The program provides high-level training to post-graduate students who intend to pursue a research career in basic or clinical sciences related to pediatrics, maternal-fetal medicine and genetics. Practical training is offered in participating in clinical activities, laboratories, and teaching initiatives.

The Program is supported by the presence of many research groups recognized as national and international leaders in their fields, favoring the possibility for the Ph.D. student to establish cross-border collaborations.

The Ph.D. students can find in the Department’s laboratories the right place to develop their research plans. Laboratories are located inside the Istituto di Ricerca Pediatrica (IRP), a large structure (more than 17.500 sqm) furnished with up-to-date facilities and technologies and a stimulating environment where Ph.D. students can learn from more experienced researchers and develop their skills.

The Ph.D. program is also supported by the presence in the same Department of the Pediatric Surgery and Gynecological Sciences and Human Reproduction Divisions with their own area of research, including regenerative medicine, assisted reproductive medicine and prenatal diagnosis, among others.
